Poetry: A Quiet Retreat

A silent and peaceful stroll
Ascending a soft and grassy knoll
Towards a large modern country home
Standing determinedly all alone

A refreshingly cool summer breeze
Feeling comfortable and so full of ease
A garden filled with flowers
A low setting sun in the deep afternoon hours

Surrounded by large magnificent trees
A hammock secluded from too many eyes that sees
A fresh essence – a soothing scent
Serene harmony – a feeling so content

Sounds of birds, bugs and bees
A butterfly’s flight – colors that seize
The feel of grass beneath of feet
Inching ever closely to that one quiet retreat

Soft and dusky, long and flowing
White linen, revealing, showing
Curling to doze, stretching to dream
Wonderfully free, leisurely seeming.
