Poetry: unbare of thee

whispers whence the needs to be
shallow hearts heed not want—unbare of thee
why no more, no less those thoughts unshown
when tempt with fray and fates overthrown

thy cruel contempt and faults well-known
validate the truths and lore and lights disowned
fervor and flame and fancy beholds
an endless night of hunger—an ache unfolds

squander the hope and lead the scorn
dismiss the courage and battle the norm
challenge thy role and assert that tone
belay and muse and explore all the unknowns

crave the faults, attest many to these
gather and grip and alight with ease
awaken, endure and credit the acts
then ponder, refute and wait yet another climax
