Poetry: Alone

Have you ever really been alone?
Have you ever really known?
What it feels like to be?
In total solitude, alone and free?
Not having anyone but you?
Not even a very few?
A family that’s not to be
Having a close and comforting history

Growing up I always knew
I would only be happy less or equal two
Enjoying the silence more than you know
Reading and learning in an effort to grow
But too alone I know I can be
When I start to feel that ache of uncertainty
But of course nobody tends to see
That there is always simply only me and all there’ll ever be.
